For the dog who's your whole world. Anxious, unruly or reactive included..
The dog’s tale
You might know us as Headshot Collective, how we first started out. But there's more to it than a rebrand. I started photographing shelter dogs one day and nothing about this business looked the same afterwards. This is less a photography studio, more a reminder that every dog — the ones with homes, and the ones still waiting for one — deserves to be seen properly. That's why we're Good Dog Studio now.
For Brands
Product, packaging and campaign photography for pet food, pet product, clinics and pet service brands. 10+ years shooting commercially, backed by an established roster of animal talent - ready for briefs of any scale.
For Pet Owners
I create natural, artistic and character-filled images of your pets, capturing their personalities, quirks and joy in a calm, relaxed studio environment located in the heart of the beautiful Southern Highlands, NSW where you and your pet will love the experience.
This lovingly created imagery will be crafted into luxury printed artwork products for you to enjoy forever as a lifelong keepsake and memory of our loyal and loving furry friends.
How it works
Let’s talk about your goals on a discovery call.
1
You love your pets, they are more than faithful companions, they are your family. Initially we will talk about what your goals are for your artworks, ie is there a perfect space on your wall where you will hang your new bespoke piece? I’ll also send you a full preparation guide so you know what to expect and how to best prepare.
The shoot experience. We work at their pace and we all enjoy the experience.
2
No forcing it. No endless takes. We read the pet - when they're engaged, when they need a break, when the treat is working and when it isn't. Calm pets make better portraits. We aim to have you and your dog (or pet) love the experience.

Consultation and ordering session
I will carefully select 25 of your best images and hand-edit each of these. It takes a minimum of a full day to do this and depending on my schedule, your full gallery will be ready roughly 1 week after your session.
We will either do an in-person consultation back in the studio or if not convenient, via Zoom. I offer a standard range of products but have access to an endless array of options through our Australian supplier so can accomodate most requests.
YOUR EXPERIENCE

Our light-filled Bowral studio. Controlled light, clean backgrounds, no weather dependence. Choose your backdrop - the forest green, Japanese denim or natural white. If there’s something you’d particularly like, let me know.
The studio is at 12-14 Bundaroo St, Bowral and has ample parking and space for animals to stretch their legs out the back. The yard is fully enclosed so everyone can relax.

WHAT TO BRING.

FOR PET PORTRAIT SESSIONS
BEFORE YOU ARRIVE
→ High-value treats (we supply these too) - whatever makes them forget everything else. We'll use them strategically.
→ A quick walk beforehand takes the edge off. A calmer dog is an easier portrait.
→ A groom or wash a few days before. So they’re looking and feeling their best on shoot day.
→ Their favourite toy for engagement breaks between takes.
BETTER SHOT.
Giving good dogs their moment.
We photograph dogs & cats at Wingecarribee Shire Council Animal Shelter - giving each one a portrait that shows who they really are. Because the right image can be the difference between someone scrolling past and someone saying - that's the one.
Pet Session FAQs
How long is a pet portrait photography session in Bowral?
1
Typically 30–40 minutes. We plan properly so every minute is used well. Sessions end when we've got what we came for - not when the clock runs out.
My dog doesn't sit still. Will that be a problem?
2
No. We work with the dog you have, not the dog you wish you had. Movement and chaos often produce the best portraits. Bring the treats and we'll handle the rest.
Can I be in the portrait too?
3
We combine a thoughtful, human-centered approach with clear communication and reliable results. It’s not just what we do—it’s how we do it that sets us apart.
What backgrounds do you have?
4
Our signature is the deep forest green - you can see it behind Lucy in the image above. It's not a coincidence that it's our brand colour. We also offer natural white and Japanese backgrounds depending on the dog's colouring. If there’s something you’d particularly like, simply let me know.
Yes. Cats, snakes, donkeys - if it matters to you, it matters to us. Just let us know in advance so we can prepare the studio appropriately.
